Everything Old Canada is and antique and vintage store in Brentwood Bay on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
14 of the 20 paintings in my current exhibition at the Elliott Fouts Gallery have objects from Everything Old.
When we first got to the Island a year ago, we found them on Instagram and drove out to their farmhouse turned store. Andrew & Amber had given up a large portion of their home to operate their growing business. They have since relocated to a much larger space in Brentwood Bay (click here to see where they are) which is full, almost bursting, in the best way possible.
I take my time walking through the shop, gathering ideas, thinking about what would transform in to a painting. The store is like an eye-spy game. Every surface, every nook, every inch of the place has something to find.
Andrew & Amber are enthusiastic about artists and artisans. They point out things I might not see hidden in corners, show me how things work, give bits of history and explanations. It has worked out well. I have found some pretty cool things with their help. I’m grateful.
Do you live in Victoria? Visiting the Island? Make a point to get to Everything Old. They have everything from functioning housewares, furniture, decor for everything imaginable, including your yard. You’ll find charm and character. You won’t regret it.
