It turns out I have an interest in industrial design. And nostalgia. And strong geometric shapes. And icons and symbols found in everyday objects. The interests manifest themselves in paintings. Paintings that are done with a slight lean on old masters painting techniques with an emphasis on how that light falls on these objects. Recently that light has been the dependable light from a north-facing window in my house.

These are gorgeous. You’ve achieved a weightiness in the bases of these fans that are fantastic. Love the palette too.

  2. Hi! Christopher Stott,

Both of these painting (Two Vintage Electric Fans and Vintage Electric Fan, Three Glasses of Water) are very beautiful and yes, I do notice your excellant use of light source, circles and straight lines in both paintings.

    The “weightiness in the bases”…
    …has already been mentioned.

    Thanks, for sharing!

    Absolutely beautiful work.
The tension in the first piece is interesting, like too people in an impasse of an argument ready to go off again.
The three glasses really pull the composition together in the the second work.
Very inspiring work, thanks for sharing it.
